Purpose for Master Teachers

The San Antonio Independent School District is proud to invest in our high achieving teachers to provide additional quality instructional time for our At-Risk students.  Our Master Teachers provide appropriate and engaging learning activities and experiences designed to help the students attain their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  The purpose of this initiative is to accelerate students back to academic grade level, re-motivate, and re-integrate into the learning community. The use of engaging instructional models will help facilitate student motivation and self-regulation. The integration of subjects into Project-Based Learning units tied directly to conceptual level essential questions will help students see relevance and make meaning of new learning. Our ultimate purpose is to enable students to develop competencies and skills that will prepare them for success in higher education.

The role of Master Teacher is a vital part of transforming SAISD to ensure our students are performing at higher levels and graduating well prepared to succeed in higher education.   Master Teachers are hired as experienced champions of children with a proven track record of increasing student achievement.

Master Teachers will be supported collaboratively by the Department of Academics (for all campuses), and the Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) staff for TIF Campuses.  If there are concerns or questions about resources, training, transportation or any issues impacting your work with students, please contact us at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
