SAISD’s Travis Early College High School named 2017 National Blue Ribbon School
Early college campus earns honor as exemplary high performing school
Sept. 28, 2017 – San Antonio ISD's Travis Early College High School has been named a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School based on its overall academic excellence. It is one of two schools in Bexar County to receive this honor and among 312 public and private schools in the country selected as exemplary high performing schools. “We are very proud of Travis Early College High School for receiving this national recognition,” said SAISD Superintendent Pedro Martinez. “This represents the high standards of school staff and students and their ability to achieve academic excellence.”
Travis Early College High School, which is located across the street from its program partner San Antonio College, puts students on the fast-track to higher education by giving students the opportunity to earn up to two years of college credit or an associate degree while in high school – at no cost to students or their families.
Blue Ribbon Schools is a U.S. Department of Education program, founded in 1982, that recognizes public and private elementary, middle and high schools where students perform at very high levels. According to the DOE, this coveted award affirms the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating schools where students master challenging content.
