Before moderating 12 U.S. presidential debates, co-hosting the PBS MacNeil/ Lehrer NewsHour, covering the Senate during the Watergate hearings and serving as a political writer for Dallas’ former afternoon daily newspaper, the Times Herald, where he reported on the assassination of President John Kennedy, Jim Lehrer first began honing the skills that would go on to make him an award-winning journalist while he still was a student at SAISD’s Jefferson High School.
The highlight of Lehrer’s return to where it all began for him will be sharing his expertise and some of his experiences with newspaper and yearbook staff students at his alma mater.
