Oct. 25-26 — Pumpkin Patch Festival
4:30 to 7 p.m. at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.
The community is invited to enjoy games, music, food, a petting zoo and compete in a costume contest. Participants may park at the SAISD Sports Complex, which is adjacent to Burbank, and be transported to the festival on a hay ride. Price is $2 for adults and $1 for students. Children 2-years-old and under will be admitted free.
Oct. 26 (Thurs) — Annual care bear project
9 a.m. at Briscoe Elementary, 2015 S. Flores St.
Students will present San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus with teddy bears they have collected for the police department’s victim crime unit. Each year, the school hosts drives for cuddly items to provide comfort to children with whom San Antonio police first responders come in contact.
Oct. 26 (Thurs) — SAISD District Leadership Team meeting
4:45 p.m. at the Pickett Center, 1933 E. Houston St.
The DLT comprises parents, community and staff members who meet monthly to advise the school district on education goals and objectives.
Oct. 28 (Sat) — SAISD EPIC Saturdays
8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Highlands High School, 3118 Elgin Ave.
Featured speaker will be author Pam Allyn, who will talk about literacy. This will be the second of four EPIC Saturdays to run through February. Each provides SAISD teachers conference-style events featuring keynote addresses by some of the nation’s best education minds and breakout sessions that deliver tailored learning.
Oct. 23-26 — Free family fitness classes
5:30 p.m. at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:
