Nov. 13 (Mon) — School Board meeting A
5:30 p.m. at the Burnet Center, 406 Barrera St.

Nov. 15 (Wed) — Dual-language informational meeting
6 to 8 p.m. at Irving Dual Language Academy, 1300 Delgado St.
Parents are invited to learn about the academy, where students will have the opportunity to become fluent in both English and Spanish. Guest speaker will be Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and founder and president of Edu­cational Achievement Services. The school’s program, developed with input from local and national experts in dual-language education, is set to debut in August 2018 with grades pre-kinder to 1st, expanding to grade 8 in subsequent years. The academy will be open to students throughout Bexar County. As part of its transition from a traditional middle school, Irving’s last remaining students will graduate as 8th-graders in spring 2019.

Nov. 16 (Thurs) — Ag in the City
9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 12:45 p.m. at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.
Approximately 500 4th-grade urbanites representing six SAISD elementaries will be able to sample farm life without having to leave the city. Through this annual event, they can get an up-close look at a variety of farm animals such as chicks, ducks, goats, horses, lambs and pigs, and rotate through stations including: Animal Care Services; Earth and Agriculture; Flower Power; Mammals Across America; Salsa – That’s  Hot!; and Seed to Salad in 22 Days. Fun, hands-on learning experiences also will complement the students’ classroom science lessons. Their tour guides will be Burbank agriculture students.

Nov. 16 (Thurs) — Ribbon-cutting ceremony
10 a.m. at Steele Montessori Academy, 722 Haggin St. 
Parents and community members are invited to festivities officially celebrating San Antonio's only public Montessori school, which opened in August.

Nov. 16 (Thurs) — SAISD District Leadership Team meeting
4:45 p.m. at the Pickett Center,
1933 E. Houston St.
The DLT comprises parents, community and staff members who meet monthly to advise the school district on education goals and objectives.

Nov. 13 thru 16 — Free family fitness classes
5:30 p.m. at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:
