Nov. 18 (Sat) — Fathers in Action resource fair
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pletz Park, 3831 Belgium Lane
The Sam Houston High School cluster will host this event featuring fun family activities, lunch, resource booths and tips on how parents can support their child’s education. Representatives from the San Antonio fire and police departments also will be in attendance.
Nov. 20-24 — Thanksgiving holiday break
All SAISD schools and most offices will be closed this week.
Nov. 27 (Mon) — Feed a Bee Bayer Grant presentation
9 a.m. at Baskin Elementary, 630 Crestview Drive and Babcock Road
A $1,000 grant awarded to the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service 4-H programs will finance a pollinator garden. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will provide information on which plants attract bees and other pollinators, advice on growing them and their seasons. and locations to buy supplies. Students from all grade levels will participate in this project designed to beautify their school while teaching them the importance of bees and other pollinators.

Dec. 1 (Fri) — National Blue Ribbon School celebration
10 a.m. at Travis Early College High School, 1915 N. Main Ave.
Festivities will be in honor of Travis earning this prestigious award. It is among only 312 public and private campuses in the country selected a 2017 National Blue Ribbon School in the exemplary high-performing schools category.
Nov. 27-30 — Free family fitness classes
5:30 p.m. at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:
