Advanced Learning Academy receives Kingdom for Kids playground

Kingdom for Kids

San Antonio ISD’s Advanced Learning Academy is the honored recipient of a Kingdom for Kids playground after a two-day building blitz Dec. 1-2, 2017. Kingdom for Kids is a service project involving the Rotary Club of San Antonio members, City Year and volunteers from throughout the city.

More than 200 volunteers gathered at the Advanced Learning Academy-Euclid campus to install the new sensory playground. The installation included:

  • A $70,000 play structure that meets ADA requirements and serves children ages 3 to 11
  • A basketball court with professional-grade goal and customized striping to reflect school colors
  • A soccer field with Junior-sized goals, which is still under construction
  • Six areas of landscaping including at entry-area and along fence line, a working garden bordered with picket fencing, and eight new trees
  • Decorative murals along the fence line
  • Benches, tables and cubbies

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held the final day of the build on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017. Approximately 350 children at the campus will benefit from the enhancements.

This is the 18th Kingdom for Kids playground in the San Antonio area.
