Graduate Programs and Career Pathways

SAISD is committed to providing multiple avenues and ongoing support for professional growth for our staff members.

Below is an overview of several graduate programs and an emerging leaders program available to teachers, educators and leaders in our District. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit an interest form online. 

Graduate progam overview

SAISD will provide full tuition coverage for the graduate-level programs and participants will be responsible for the application fee, student fees and textbooks. Individuals selected agree to diligently pursue and obtain a Master’s degree while continuing full-time employment with SAISD. Upon completion of the degree, participants agree to remain in SAISD for 3 consecutive, complete academic years.

Tracks available: Integrated Science Teaching | Reading Specialist | Bilingual
Eligible staff: TIF campus teachers with 2+ years of experience
Duration: 36-hour program in 2 years, beginning Fall 2018

Relay GSE logo

Relay Graduate School of Education Master of Arts in Teaching: Content Intensive (M.A.T.-Content Intensive)
Tracks available: Math | ELA
Eligible staff: Middle and high school teachers with 2+ years of experience
Duration: 1 year, beginning Summer 2018

Eligible staff: Teachers and Implementation Specialists with 2+ years of experience
Duration: 36-hour program, starting in Fall 2018

UTSA

The University of Texas, San Antonio Master of Arts – Bicultural-Bilingual
Track available: Bicultural-bilingual education concentration
Eligible staff: TIF campus teachers with 2+ years of experience
Duration: 36-hour program in 2 years, beginning Fall 2018
Deadline: Application period for 2019-2020 school year will reopen in fall 2018

What is a TIF Campus?

Residency overview

A low-cost pathway to a master's degree, teaching certification and job placement. Open to all majors.

Relay GSE logo

Relay Teaching Residency
Eligible staff: Instructional assistants, paraprofessionals and substitute teachers who already have earned bachelor degrees
Duration: Two years

 

Leadership overview

Tuition-free leadership programs provide the training, coaching, framework, and real-world experience individuals need to build capacity for instructional leadership as a teacher leader or as a school administrator. Training may include virtual and on-site coaching.

Emerging Leaders

Emerging Leaders Program
Eligible staff: Teacher leaders, instructional coaches, assistant principals, coordinators or directors
Duration: 1 year, SY 2018-19
Deadline: Applications period for 2019-2020 school year will reopen in fall 2018

-Bachelor's degree
-Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
-Valid Principal or Mid Management certification

Trinity University logo Trinity University Leadership Collaborative (Principal Certification Program and Master of Education in School Leadership)
Eligible staff: Assistant and associate principals
Qualifications:
       
- Selected candidates commit to working in an SAISD Eastside Promise Neighborhood campus for two years, including the initial residency year, and three additional years within the District.
- During year of residency, participants serve as Peer Assistant Teachers on an Eastside Promise Neighborhood campus, teaching students and supporting campus administration while undergoing coursework toward their degree.
Cost: $15,000 (after tuition scholarships and forgivable loans of $38,000)
Duration: 14 months

UTSA UTSA Urban School Leaders Collaborative (Master of Education in Educational Leadership)
Eligible staff: Teacher leaders, instructional coaches, assistant principals, coordinators or directors
Qualifications: Candidates are recommended by their peers or supervisors and go through a selection process designed by the university.
Duration: 18 months
