May 14 (Mon) – School Board Meeting A
6 p.m. at the Burnet Center, 406 Barrera St.

May 14 (Mon) – Congressional High School Art Competition award presentation
2:30 p.m. at Brackenridge High School library, 400 Eagleland Drive
U.S. Rep. Lloyd Doggett will announce the 2018 winner of the Congressional High School Art Competition for District 35 as a junior at Brackenridge High School. The winner’s original piece will be featured in the Capitol in Washington, D.C., for a year, providing this student and SAISD national exposure. The student will receive two roundtrip tickets to Washington, D.C., to attend a June ceremony unveiling the artwork at the Capitol.

May 17 (Thurs) – Brackenridge drama at elementary schools
9:30 a.m. at Green Elementary School, 122 W. Whittier St.
Noon at Douglass Elementary School, 318 Martin Luther King Drive
The Brackenridge High School drama team will perform an original fairy tale and conduct a workshop at two SAISD elementary schools.

May 17 (Thurs) – Scholarship luncheon and presentations
Noon at C.H. Guenther & Son corporate headquarters, 2201 Broadway
Fifteen SAISD seniors will receive scholarships from C. H. Guenther & Son to help them launch their college journeys.

May 17 (Thurs) – International Baccalaureate Pin & Stole Ceremony
6:15 p.m. at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.
Members of the class of 2018 who are graduating from the school’s prestigious International Baccalaureate Magnet program will be honored. One-hundred percent of the seniors have been accepted into four-year universities, including Dartmouth College and Baylor, DePaul and New York universities, among others. Also honored will be members of the Class of 2017 who are returning to receive their IB Diploma.

May 17 (Thurs) — SAISD Night of Champions
6:30 p.m.  at the Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta Drive                  
In the spotlight will be members of SAISD’s class of 2018, who will be honored for a variety of athletic accomplishments.

May 18 (Fri) – One-year SAISD alumni reunion
11 a.m. at Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta Drive
Former students who graduated among the Class of 2017 will be treated to a reunion – complete with barbecue and entertainment – to celebrate their accomplishments over the past year.

May 19 (Sat) – Pride of the East Side Block Party
11 a.m. at Sam Houston High School, 4635 E. Houston St.
The seventh annual Pride of the East Side Block Party, hosted by City Year, will showcase a variety of resources, opportunities and engaging activities.
