June 11 (Mon) – School Board Meeting A

(Tues) – Citywide 2018 Fit Family Challenge
5:15 p.m. at Rogers Elementary, 620 McIlvaine St.
Rogers is one of the city’s eight host sites for this annual 12-week program featuring fun fitness activities aimed at motivating families to break away from a sedentary lifestyle. The 2018 Fit Family Challenge is presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and organized by San Antonio Sports.
June 13 (Wed) – SAISD student has artwork unveiled on city bus
2:30 p.m. at Alamo Convocation Center, 110 Tuleta Drive (Parking Lot B)
As part of a Go Public initiative, Teunice Curtis, a 2018 graduate of Young Women’s Leadership Academy, will have her artwork titled “Bantu Beauty” unveiled on a VIA bus. Her artwork is one of 31 original designs created by high school students across San Antonio. Note: YWLA’s Teunice Curtis will graduate this Saturday after maintaining perfect attendance from grades 1-12 for an average of 2,118 consecutive school days.
June 11-14 (Mon-Thurs) – CodeFM summer camp
8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ball Academy, 343 Koehler Court
SAISD students in grades 4-6 from across the District are participating in this technology-based summer enrichment camp. Students will work on coding, creating multimedia projects using art and music, and engaging in filmmaking activities using green screens to produce short films.
June 11-14 (Mon-Thurs) – Cool Tech and Outdoor Adventure camps
8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at CAST Tech, 637 N. Main Ave.
CAST Tech students will participate in one of two technology-based camps. In Cool Tech Camp, students will learn and create using arduinos (a prototyping platform for interactive electronic objects), Linux, basic networking and digital forensics. In Outdoor Adventure Camp, students will get outside and explore local city and state parks, while integrating technology.
June 11-15 (Mon-Fri) – Summer Theatre Camp
8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at Highlands High School, 3118 Elgin Ave.
SAISD middle and high school students from across the District are perfecting their singing, acting and dancing skills to prepare for their performances in one of two fully staged musical theatre productions: “Seussical Jr.” or “The Miracle Worker.” The camp will culminate with free, back-to-back public performances beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21 and Friday, June 22.
June 11-15 (Mon-Fri) – IVY + STEM Class of 2020
9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Sam Houston High School, 4635 E. Houston St.
More than 100 Top-10 ranked students from SAISD’s Class of 2020 will participate in this pre-college program focused on science and engineering, technology, English and mathematics instruction. The program is designed to prepare talented juniors with real-world, hands-on experience they can apply to the classroom and beyond. The experience culminates with a college road trip to visit the campuses of Rice University and the University of Houston on Saturday, June 16.
