Sept. 17 (Mon) – Constitution Day event
Noon to 1 p.m. at Jefferson High School, Auditorium, 723 Donaldson Ave.
Texas Appellate Justice Rebeca Martinez will speak on the topic, “Why the Courts, and Your Vote, Matters” during Jefferson High School’s first Constitution Day event, which aims to promote habits of citizenship. Constitution Day recognizes the adoption of the U.S. Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. The celebration is sponsored by the Social Studies Department and will be held in the school auditorium. Jefferson High School is an International Baccalaureate World School.

Sept. 19 (Wed) – SAISD Bond 2016 Community Meeting
6 p.m. at Tafolla Middle School, Library, 1303 W. Cesar E. Chavez Ave.
SAISD is holding a public meeting to share information about the $25,080,190 Bond 2016 program at Tafolla Middle School. District facilities staff, including project managers, architects and school leaders will share preliminary plans and designs, and ask for community input. Project architect is Alamo Architects.

Sept. 20 (Thurs) – SAISD Bond 2016 Community Meeting
4:30 p.m. at J. T. Brackenridge Elementary School, Cafeteria, 1214 Guadalupe St.
SAISD is holding a public meeting to share information about the $11,966,712 Bond 2016 program at J. T. Brackenridge Elementary School. District facilities staff, including project managers, architects and school leaders will share preliminary plans and designs, and ask for community input. Project architect is Chesney/Morales.

Sept. 20 (Thurs) – SAISD Bond 2016 Community Meeting
6 p.m. at Burbank High School, Cafeteria, 1002 Edwards St.
SAISD is holding a public meeting to share information about the $79,439,675 Bond 2016 program at Burbank High School. District facilities staff, including project managers, architects and school leaders will share preliminary plans and designs, and ask for community input. Project architect is Garza Bomberger & Associates.

Sept. 17-20 — Free family fitness classes
Evenings at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:

● Sept. 19 (Wed) – 5:30 p.m. at Rogers Academy, 620 MIlvaine St.
● Sept. 20 (Thurs) – 5:45 p.m. at Herff Academy, 996 S. Hackberry St.
