Nov. 6 (Tues) – SAISD Bond 2016 Community Meeting
5:30 p.m. at Brackenridge High School, 400 Eagleland Drive
SAISD is holding a public meeting to share information about the $50,362,447 Bond 2016 program at Brackenridge High School. District facilities staff, including project managers, architects and school leaders will share preliminary plans and designs, and ask for community input. Project architect is Stantec Architecture Inc.

Nov. 7 (Wed) – Chalk Art award presentation
7:45 a.m. at Ogden Academy, 2215 Leal St.
Artpace representatives will visit Ogden Academy students during their morning Community Circle to award and congratulate student for two consecutive Chalk It Up wins.

Nov 7-8 (Wed, Thurs) – Food Extravaganza
10 a.m. and again at Noon, both days, Cooper Learning Center, 1700 Tampico St.
Students will help decide new menu items vying for consideration in SAISD campus cafeterias next school year. The event, which gives students a say in the foods they are served at school, is sponsored by the District’s Child Nutrition Services Department.

Nov. 8 (Thurs) – Twain Dual Language Academy Information Session
6 p.m. at Twain Dual Language Academy, 2411 San Pedro Ave.
Families interested in applying for Twain Dual Language Academy for the 2019-2020 school year are invited to this one-hour meeting to learn more about the school and the application process. The 100 percent dual-language campus is open to students across Bexar County through a lottery system.

Nov. 9 (Fri) – Veteran’s Day observances
At the SAISD schools listed below.
Schools will hold celebrations to honor military veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for their country. In addition, students from Barkley-Ruiz Elementary School will participate in the city’s WWI ceremony honoring the 100th anniversary of the Armistice ending the first world war. The students will lay a wreath at the gravesite of their school’s namesake David B. Barkley (Cantu), who is recognized as the U.S. Army’s first Hispanic Medal of Honor recipient.

● 9:30 a.m., Highland Hills Elementary, 734 Glamis Ave.

● 10 a.m., Barkley-Ruiz Elementary School at San Antonio National Cemetery, 517 Paseo Hondo St.

Nov. 5-8 Free family fitness classes
Evenings at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:

● Nov. 5 (Mon) – 5:30 p.m. at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.

● Nov. 7 (Wed) – 5:30 p.m. at Rogers Academy, 620 McIlvaine St.

● Nov. 8 (Thurs) – 5:45 p.m. at Herff Academy, 996 S. Hackberry St.
