WHAT:        SAISD kicks off Bond 2016 construction phase

                            SAISD Bond 2016 projects have reached an important milestone with the construction phase beginning for those school receiving
                             major renovations. Bowden Academy is among the first of 13 schools slated to begin construction.

VISUAL:    Following brief comments in the library, guests will proceed outside. With the signal of the official flag, a large excavator will remove the last of the dirt for the excavation – allowing for the process to begin for the laying of the foundation.

On Nov. 8, 2016, SAISD voters approved a $450 million bond to fund major renovations for 13 schools, replacing infrastructure systems that, in most cases, are more than 40 years old, upgrading science labs and expanding other classroom spaces to meet recommended state guidelines.

The 13 schools to receive extensive renovations are Brackenridge, Burbank, Edison, Fox Tech, Sam Houston, Lanier and Jefferson high schools; Davis, Rogers and Tafolla middle schools; Bowden and Irving Dual Language academies; and J.T. Brackenridge Elementary School.
