Hundreds of SAISD educators will participate in a conference-style professional learning event with more than 50 sessions across a range of educational topics. 

Feb. 12 (Tues) – Campuses open for Special Election
7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the campuses listed below
The following campuses will serve as voting locations in the State legislative special election for Texas House of Representatives District 125. The polls will open on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.

● Barkley-Ruiz Elementary School, 1111 S. Navidad St.

● Huppertz Elementary School, 247 Bangor Drive

● Sarah King Elementary School, 1001 Ceralvo St.

● Woodlawn Hills Elementary School, 110 W. Quill Drive 

Feb. 13 (Wed) – SAISD State of the District
7:30 a.m. check-in. Program from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Pearl Stable, 307 Pearl Parkway
Superintendent Pedro Martinez will deliver his fourth State of the District address to the business community. The event is put on in partnership with the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the SAISD Foundation.

Feb. 13 (Wed) – Mayor recognizes SAISD bus driver
5 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 114 W. Commerce St.
Mayor Ron Nirenberg will recognize San Antonio ISD bus driver Carmen Ramirez Medina with the “Compassionate San Antonio Award” for the thoughtful care she provided to a Longfellow Middle School student who was attacked by a dog on her way to school.  

Feb. 15 (Fri) – Young Women’s Leadership Academy Huisache-A-Thon
8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Young Women’s Leadership Academy, 2123 W. Huisache Ave.
The all-girls school will host its annual Huisache-A-Thon, a walk/run event to raise money for college-preparation programs. The event is hosted in partnership with H-E-B. 

Feb. 15 (Fri) – SAISD General Election Filing for May 4 Election
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Office of the Superintendent, 141 Lavaca St.
This is the last day for qualified SAISD residents who reside in and are interested in serving as a Trustee for single-member district 2, 5 or 6 to file their candidacy. There is no fee for filing and individuals must reside in the single-member district for which they file. Candidate information packets are available from the Office of the Superintendent, 141 Lavaca St. Filing will take place during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of the final day to file, Friday, Feb. 15, when the time will be extended until 5 p.m. The draw for a place on the ballot will occur on Friday, at 5:15 p.m. in the Office of the Superintendent.

Feb. 11-14 Free family fitness classes
Evenings at the SAISD schools listed below.
The popular Zumba dance fitness program classes are free and offered in partnership with Health Collaborative, a local network of citizens, community organizations and businesses. Upcoming sessions will be:

● Feb. 11 (Mon) – 5:30 p.m. at Burbank High School, 1002 Edwards St.

● Feb. 13 (Wed) – 5:30 p.m. at Rogers Academy, 620 McIlvaine St.

● Feb. 14 (Thurs) – 5:45 p.m. at Herff Academy, 996 S. Hackberry St.

Feb. 19 (Mon) — Presidents Day holiday
All SAISD schools and most offices will be closed.
