April 3 (Sat) — 2010 NCAA Youth Clinics hydrated by Glaceau vitaminwater® revive
8:30 a.m. at Sam Houston High School, 4635 East Houston St.

SAISD’s East Side high school will be one of two host sites for clinics held in conjunction with the weekend’s NCAA Women’s Final Four basketball competition at the Alamodome. Through this community outreach opportunity, boys and girls aged 8 to 16 can learn from NCAA coaches and college-student athletes about fitness, healthy lifestyles, sportsmanship, recruiting, and eligibility.

April 5 (Mon) — ‘Tea Party Wonderland’
9 to 10 a.m., 11 a.m. to noon, and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.* at the Young Women’s Leadership Academy, 2123 W. Huisache Ave.

To conclude an intensive study on Lewis Carroll’s classic “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” pre-AP 6th-graders at the city’s only all-girls public school will come attired in tea dresses for a Mad Hatter’s-themed tea party. The celebration also will provide them a fun opportunity to practice their etiquette. * Note to news media – this time is recommended for coverage.   

April 6 (Tue) — Recognition to include SAISD employee
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Julian Gold, 4109 McCullough Ave.

Carmen Ng will be among three cancer survivors recognized during the store’s Ladies Night Out event. The Fox Tech High School secretary also is one of this year’s “faces” for the Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure campaign for breast cancer research.

April 9 (Fri) — Visit from Rey Feo
8:30 a.m. at Arnold Elementary School, 467 Freiling Drive near Vance Jackson Road

Members of San Antonio’s NBA team will encourage students to value their education.

April 10 (Sat) — Rummage sale
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Highlands High School, 3118 Elgin Ave.

Proceeds will benefit the Highlands band. The sale is sponsored by the Band Boosters.
