Brewer ES students on April 8 demonstrate for a Silver & Black Give Back review committee one of a number of activities meant to get students moving during recess. Eight other SAISD campuses are among 20 semifinalists vying for $20,000 grants to fully implement proposed projects.

Collins Garden ES Run 4 Education reward

Jefferson HS Lassos fans line up to support them during a fund raiser at Chris Madrid’s. Sponsor the Lassos Alumni Association was formed to ensure the rope-twirling tradition continues for years to come.


Foster ES National Child Abuse Awareness Month


Foster ES 2nd-graders pose with a Cardboard Kid as part of the citywide National Child Abuse Awareness Month observance. Nearly 6,00 were decorated for sponsor ChildSafe to represent an actual Bexar County-area victim  last year.


Hawthorne Academy Pillars of Character


Hawthorne Academy students were recognized April 4 for exemplifying Pillars of Character during a special ceremony at the school, which values strong character as much as it does academics.


SAISD's Teachers of the Year announced

SAISD’s Distinguished Teachers of the Year were announced Nov. 18 during a ceremony at the Alamo Convocation Center. The winners are: Dora Alicia Garcia, King Academy, elementary school category; Rachelle Killian, Poe Middle School and Sarah Schenk, Connell Middle School, in the middle school category, and Kathryn King, Edison High School, in the high school category. Read more
