Frequently Ask Questions

IMPORTANT QUESTION:  Can I use the same password?

We cannot emphasize how important password security is when it comes to protecting data.    A new password requirement will be implemented in order for us to safeguard important data.  This requirement will be the following:

  • 8 characters minimum and 16 characters maximum
  • Requires 3 out of 4 of the following:
  1. Lowercase characters
  2. Uppercase characters
  3. Numbers (0-9)
  4. Symbols (@ # $ % ^ & * – _ + = [ ] { } | \ : ‘ , . ? / ` ~ “ < > ( ) ;)

All users are required to change their password if they do not meet the above requirements.

What happens to Outlook Web App?
Once your account is migrated, a new version of Outlook Web App will be presented.  The links to access the site will also change.  The new URLs will be or  Our SAISD home page will be updated to reflect the new address once the migration is complete.

Do I have to make changes on my workstation?
If you are using Outlook Client, the changes will occur automatically.  After the automatic changes occur, users will be prompted to restart Outlook for the new changes.

What versions of Outlook are supported with this migration?
Outlook 2010, 2013 and 2016 are the supported versions.   If you are unable to install these versions, Outlook Web App is another option to access your email.

Will I need to update my mobile device?
Some mobile devices will change automatically to the new cloud settings.  Others will have to recreate your mail account using your mobile device’s built-in Mail App.  Another option is to download Outlook for devices with instructions from this page

Will my email address be changing?
No, your email address will continue to be the same.

Will I lose my current email in my mailbox?
No, as part of the migration, all data in your current mailbox will be moved to the cloud.  This includes emails, calendar events, and contacts.

What happens to my PST files and local archives on my computer?
The migration doesn’t include local archives.  Your Outlook client will continue to access your local archives if it was configured to do so.  Now with the increase in Mailbox size and online archive feature, we encourage you to discontinue use of local archives and PST files. 

Is my information safe in the cloud?
Microsoft has committed to data security, privacy and compliance with all applicable laws.  Microsoft has also obtained third-party audits and verification insuring data security and compliance.

How do I get my copy of Microsoft Office?
Please note, this is only for personally owned equipment.  Please contact the Help Desk if you need Office installed on district-owned equipment. To download Office on personally owned equipment visit the Microsoft website for instructions.  Use your SAISD Outlook credentials to sign in.
