This nine weeks in my class...
|
In all classes we are continuing to learn to sight-read music, match pitch, explore harmonies, and follow the written music score. Our girls' UIL group will rehearse Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3:30 - 5:00 this nine weeks. At the Pre-UIL contest the girls scored the second highest score possible. We look forward to the UIL competition on March 6 / 7. Watch for an update on our 9-weeks concert date. Many of our promising young singers will be attending a concert by the U.S. Naval Academy Men's glee Club at Jefferson High School on March 11th |
| Students will be required to watch a musical on KLRN (Channel 9) and write a review this 9-weeks. |
|
Tests: A weekly choir grading rubric and individual vocal knowledge demonstrations are worth a total of 60% of a students' grade and will be recorded each Friday. The remaining 40% will be from tests, including 2 test grades from participation in our 9-weeks concert. The students who are unable to attend the concert will have a written report on a classical time period composer assigned to make up the test grade. |

Music connects us to our history, our traditions, our heritage. It stirs our memory and emotions. Music is an inherent ability in every person, simply awaiting development. I look forward to helping each student develop their musical abilities in choir this year. |
