The faculty and staff welcome you and your children to Arnold Elementary. We have been busy this summer preparing for another successful year. Arnold has a history of excellence in education. Despite the changes in the state assessments, our STAAR test results show that Arnold students continue to excel academically. Our STAAR results for 2013-14 exceeded the district and the state in all content areas with many students achieving Commended Performance. Congratulations to Arnold staff, students, and parents! Results like these can only be achieved with hard work, dedication, and parental support.
Please be aware that daily attendance will be carefully monitored. I want to thank you, in advance, for working with us to ensure that your child is in school everyday and on time! The instructional day for students begins at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. Please, no student drop-off before 7:30 a.m. Staff members designated to monitor students do not report to work before 7:30 A.M. We want to be sure that your child is safe and cared for by an adult. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Please be aware that the cafeteria will close at 8:00.
3:20 Dismissal ALL students (bus, walkers, and parent pick-up).
ALL VISITORS MUST SIGN-IN AND OBTAIN A VISITOR'S PASS IN THE SCHOOL MAIN OFFICE BEGORE ENTERING THE SCHOOL.
At the end of the school day, parents are asked to pick-up their children between 3:20pm. and 3:30pm.
Please be prompt picking up your children. Help us keep your children safe.
Each campus is required to closely monitor student attendance and report excessive absences to the SAISD Attendance Auditor for possible court action. If your child is absent, the data clerk or his designee will call to verify that you are aware of the absence and determine the reason for such absence.
When your child must be absent, it is important that a written note explaining the absence be sent to the teacher upon his/her return to the school (first day back). All notes for student absences must be submitted to the school within 48 hours of the studentï¿½s return to school or the absence will be unexcused. Please make sure the note is dated and signed by you or a doctor. An absence without a written note will be considered unexcused.
At times, it is necessary to schedule an appointment with a doctor or dentist during the instructional day. If possible, please try to arrange such visits toward the end of the day. If a morning appointment is necessary and your child is able to return to school the same day, ask the doctorï¿½s office for a note and your child will not be counted absent. Most doctors will work with you to ensure that instruction is disrupted as little as possible.
If your child's doctor issues special instructions or medication that must be given at school, notify the school nurse and classroom teacher immediately. The parent must bring the medication and complete the SAISD Medication Consent form before any medication (prescription or over the counter) can be administered. Students are not allowed to carry any type of medication (prescription or over the counter). The school nurse is on duty from 8:00a.m. to 3:30p.m. Together, we can keep your child safe and healthy. Students arriving after 8:05 a.m. will be considered tardy and will need to come to the office for a tardy slip. The Texas Compulsory Attendance Law states that a student must be present at school throughout the instructional day, 8:05a.m. - 3:20p.m. Having your child arrive on time and remain until the end of the instructional day allows him/her to participate fully in our instruction program.
Please note if a student accumulates four or more tardies in a nine week period that student will not receive a Perfect Attendance ribbon.
We invite you to have lunch with your child in our cafeteria. You may purchase lunch from the cafeteria or bring something special for both of you. Please check with your child's teacher for his/her lunch time.
Reminder: All visitors are required to stop by the office and sign-in before going to the cafeteria.
AFTER SCHOOL CARE:
The Challenge Program provides after school care for students attending Arnold Elementary. The Challenge Program is Sponsored by the City of San Antonio. For more information on this program please call the main office at (210) 433-9922.

Students in the SAISD are required to wear a school uniform. Failure to do so may lead to consequences. Please review the Uniform Section in the Student Code of Conduct Booklet for a detailed description of the uniform. The office staff will gladly address any questions that you may have about the school uniform. Note: Students wear white or Hunter Green Polo Shirts.

Please read and discuss the SAISD Student code of Conduct Booklet with your child. This booklet carefully explains the rules, regulations, and consequences for violating the Code of Conduct. When your child brings the Student Code of Conduct Booklet home, please, sign and return the required signature paper indicating that you have read the booklet with your child.
