The Cosmetology Program at Luther Burbank High School participates in Texas Skills USA. Students work on models and also have an opportunity to be a model. They will also work on clients from the community and Burbank Family. Field trips that are related to the beauty industry. Also students will attend after school hair clinics held once a month on Thursday
National Honor Society
Mission: To create an enthusiasm for scholarships, to stimulate desire to render service, and to promote worthy students of Burbank High School Prerequisites: Candidates must be in the upper 10% of their junior or senior class. Further, they will be evaluated on the basis of service, leadership, and character.
Awards: Highest number of service points Meetings: Every other Monday at 4:00 pm in the Library
Thespian/ Drama Club
Room No: 115 & Auditorium Ext: 160 Mission : To provide entertainment outlet for all actors, art and technical stuff for technically inclines people (artist). To create shows for students and parents and to compete with other schools in UIL OAP. Prerequisites: Attend and participate in the Drama Club; 100 hours participation & 2UIL OAP shows (Thespian); three UIL OAP shows; 90 percent attendance; 3.0 average for scholarship
Awards: Becoming a Thespian, an Officer, Best Actor/Actress, Techie (Technical Crew), All-Star Cast, Scholarships
Meetings: After school, usually 4-5 or 4-6. Any day there's a rehearsal (most of year), otherwise once a month.
JROTC

Texas Association of Future Educators
Room No: 302 Ext. 122 Mission : Our mission is to teach students about the teaching profession as well as helping students explore their own interest in relation to various teaching fields and cultivating qualities of character, personality and leadership. Prerequisites: Membership is open to students in grades 10-12 who are interested in exploring teaching as a career and who have the high qualities of character, personality, scholarship, and leadership essential to be a good teacher.

Academic Decathlon

Room No: 228 Mission : Students compete for medals and scholarships in 10 different subjects(Art History, Literature, Math, Science, Social Studies, Music History, Economics, Speech Interview and Essay). Students in the class receive Speech and Health credit and their 2nd or 3rd year may choose to take the Art History AP course for college credit. Students travel on field trips to Art Museums and exhibitions and competitions around Texas. Burbank Academic Decathlon has gone to the State Tournament 10 times in the past 15 years. By competing and winning against the best students in the State, our team members have a chance to gain confidence and see the level of competition they will be up against when they enroll in college. It’s one of the finest college preparatory programs and competitions in the nation. Prerequisites: Desire to learn and likes to read and wants to prepare for college

Mission: To promote school spirit and support every club and organization on campus. Prerequisite: Try out for cheer and dance, a student must have been a member of an organization (pep squad, ROTC, band, athletics) for at least one year. They must be passing all their classes and have good attendance.
Events: The OJ's attend every football game and basketball game. They also attend games and meets/tournament for other sports, such as volleyball and softball. Additionally, the OJÂ?s organize and conduct pep rallies.

Mission : History club participates in the following events: Model United Nations of San Antonio (U.N. similation), RUNWAY (U.N. Similation), history fair, musuem field trips, WorldQuest (historical trivia), and the study of historical research topics. We also do a lot of fundraising throughout the school year and sponsor the Chess Club.
Prerequisites: 80% overall average
Awards/Competitions: History Club participates in the following events: Model United Nations of San Antonio (U.N. simulation), RUNWAY (U.N. Simulation), history fair, museum field trips, WorldQuest (historical trivia), and the study of historical research topics. We also do a lot of fundraising throughout the school year and sponsor the chess club.
