Dear Parents and Visitors,

Welcome to Lorenzo De Zavala Elementary School named after Lorenzo De Zavala who played a pivotal role in Texas’ battle for independence. De Zavala not only signed Texas’ Declaration of Independence, but also held office as Vice President of the Republic of Texas. A monument stands in his name in San Jacinto State Park.

De Zavala Elementary is also the home of the Mighty Roadrunners. Safety, security, academic, and social development create the foundation for our campus vision. We strongly encourage parental and community involvement, which we feel are key elements for student success.  De Zavala Elementary has implemented a new approach to campus student support.  Positive Behavior Support (PBS) focuses on effective routines and character development in order to promote positive behavior.
