Golden Bear Bragging Rights

  • Proven gains in state testing since 2004: 
    • TAAS : 40% gain by Edison students compared to state 30% gain
    • TAKS: 51% gain by Edison compared to state 30% gain
    • 1st overall in SAISD in all subjects combined on TAKS for 3 years (out of last 6 years)
      Edison has been among district leaders in TAKS performance

    • In 2010, all boys and girls athletics advanced to post district playoffs with a repeat this year in all but one.
    • Fine Arts program has more than doubled in the last two decades while winning awards, such as those earned this year by the Edison Theatre.  They won the Zone, District and Area title for the 2011 UIL One Act Play Contest and have now advanced to the Regional level. 
    • Edison students have received 92 Microsoft Office Certifications, 12 Experts & 4 Masters.
    • AVID program at EHS started in 1998.  Just since 2006, we  have produced 11 Dell Semi-Finalists and 8 Dell Scholars.
    • Since 2005, we have  had 378 AP Tests passed equaling over 1300 college hours earned through AP based on scores of 3,4,5 on AP Tests
      Through  AP, we have saved students about $1 million in college tuition.
      We have saved our students an additional $1 million with dual credit.

 EHS Hits All-Time Sports Record in all Girl's & Boy's Sports   
The 2009-2010 school year brought success to every athletic team at Edison--setting a record for the most post-season play.  Congratulations to all of the Edison athletes, their coaches and families.  

 US News & World Report’s Best High Schools 2008   
Four San Antonio high schools earned places on U.S. News & World Report' Best High Schools 2008 list. North East Independent School District's International School of the Americas and Northside Independent School District's Health Careers High School each received silver medals. San Antonio Independent School District's Edison High School and Lackland Independent School District's Virginia Allred Stacey Junior/Senior High were awarded bronze medals. 

 Edison SS Gold Medal Winner For 5th Year In A Row 2010 
The Gold Medal Performances have been released for the 2010 TAKS.  For the fifth year in a row, Edison High School has received this recognition for the number of commended scores on TAKS.   

State Recognized Academic Decathlon Team

 Academic Decathlon is a program that provides students an opportunity to experience the challenges of rigorous academic competition through participation in team activities. Decathlon is designed to include students of three academic levels. Each nine-member team consists of three "A" students, three "B" students and three "C" students.   The Edison Decathlon Team has enjoyed great success in recent years, including 1st Place District Championships, Regional Top Five, and advancing to State Competition for the last three years.

At Edison we have 3 great options for earning college credit while earning high school credit.AP-Advanced Placement courses-see brochureDual Credit courses at Edison where you earn high school and college credit at the same time.Dual Credit courses on Saturday at San Antonio College for free.This means you can save thousands of dollars on college tuition and books while at Edison.The new GO CENTER is located in the Career Center next to the counseling office. It is open from 8:30-4:30. Mr. Cunningham can help you apply for college, fill out financial aid applications and scholarships. All of this help and information is free.  National Award Winning Cheerleaders, Honey Bears & Golden Girls
The Edison Honey Bears consist of the Pep Squad, Cheerleaders and the Golden Girls Dance Team.  The Golden Girls have been awarded the title of National Champions for many years.  Their high energy is contagious at competitions.  When you see this team at football game and event, you will know why the HONEY BEARS are the highlighted group!
