San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP)

For twenty (20) years (1988-2008), the San Antonio Education Partnership (SAEP) and Edison High School (EHS) have maintained high standards of excellence.  As a direct result of two decades of effective teamwork, a total of 1,505 EHS students have been awarded a sum of $1,438,000 in Scholarships to attend local colleges and universities.  Of the 1,505 EHS students who have been awarded the SAEP Scholarship, three hundred and eighty nine (389) have earned either the Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree.  Others have done well in college course-work and secured gainful employment. Based in part on those facts, EHS is one of the most successful partners in the history of the program.  EHS enjoys other noteworthy distinctions, namely:  (a). One (1) of the original eight (8) participating high schools; now, there are twenty-five (25). (b). One (1) of four (4) participating high schools to achieve the Million Dollar School designation and (c). The only one (1) of eight (8) participating high schools in the SAISD to be inducted into the SAEP “Million Dollar Club”

Mr. Manuel G. Flores, SAEP College Access Advisor since 1997, had this to say when asked about key factors that contribute to EHS success:  “I have received incredible support from Mr. Munoz, teachers, counselors and staff.  It goes without saying that students and members of their families have been very cooperative and helpful.  I must also give thanks to colleagues from the Alamo Community Colleges and the four year universities for the excellent Transitioning Services they provide, making it easier for our students to gain access to higher education.”
