Gold Medal Performance

The Social Studies department at Edison High School is proud to announce that for the third consecutive year our performance on Social Studies TAKS has earned a "Gold Medal Performance" rating from the Texas Education Agency.  To achieve this distinction, the percentage of students achieving "Commended" on the TAKS exam must be 25% or higher for all students and for all accountable sub-populations.

Teaching American History Grant

Congratulations to Edison Social Studies teachers Yolanda Moran, Erica Parra, and Michelle LaFontain.  They have been selected to participate in SAISD's Teaching American History Grant.  This three year grant will give them the opportunity to study with professors at local colleges and universities and to visit history sites in Texas and around the United States.  In the summer of 2009, they will visit Boston to learn about the founding of our nation.  They will also be collaborating with teachers from other SAISD schools.
