Health Professions Magnet at Edison High School Health Professions at Edison is a magnet created for students interested in pursuing careers in medicine. Through courses like anatomy, medical terminology, and health science technology, students will develop marketable skills tailored to the health care industry. The school features partnerships with many local teaching hospitals giving students close-up, first-hand experience. During their junior and senior years students' Health Science Technology classes go to community teaching hospitals three times weekly to give them opportunities to utilize their health care skills through job-shadowing and clinical practice. Additional partnerships with universities and community programs offer students increased opportunities to be accepted into professional schools. Upon successful completion of the courses students, may take state certification examinations in several medical careers giving them the opportunity to obtain above entry level employment.
