Student Services
We provide several services for students enrolled at Estrada Achievement Center. Our goal is to provide students with guidance, counseling, and programs in order to increase their academic and personal success. Some of the services that we offer are the substance abuse prevention and intervention, in which Methodist Health Care Ministries and Salena Center provides substance abuse counseling weekly to students deemed most in need of their services.
The Center for Health Care provides group substance abuse counseling and services to students with substance abuse issues that are impeding their academic and behavioral success in school. The YWCA in conjunction with the University of Houston provides substance abuse counseling services as part of a research study that addresses substance abuse among Hispanic teens.
Our district social worker conducts a needs assessment with every student and his/her parent at intake consultation to determine what services are needed and can be provided to assist the students in achieving greater success such as homebound instruction, daycare, transportation, WIC assistance, and necessary supplies for teen parents.
We provide Anger Management Counseling services through the City of San Antonio Community Initiative Program, the San Antonio Cultural Arts focuses on eliminating drug abuse and decrease in gang activities by allowing students participate in creating murals.
In order to improve student attendance, the Never Been Absent Club has been initiated on campus and bi-weekly celebrations are held to reward students who have been in attendance for two or more days without an absence and these students are featured on a prominent bulletin board on the campus.
Boystown Social Skills and Intervention is implemented at Estrada . Every student at Estrada is briefed along with his/her parent on what Boystown Social Skills are and what the campus expectation is for following them.
