Our School

Hawthorne Academy is the first school in the San Antonio Independent School District to have adopted a PreK-8th grade academy school model. Our ongoing efforts are receiving recognition throughout the state.

We have used research, community input, and a history of successful initiatives to develop a school model that will lead us to our ultimate goals- an exemplary education for all of our students and expanded opportunities for all members of the Hawthorne community. Our purpose as a charter school is to ensure that our students have the resources, abilities, and inspiration to overcome obstacles, fulfill obligations, and achieve their dreams.

Every Hawthorne student will leave with the knowledge, dedication, and opportunities to be successful in high school and to prepare for a college education.

As a charter school Hawthorne Academy will:

  • Serve three year old through eighth grade students in a nurturing environment.
  • Open enrollment to kindergarten through 8th grade students on a space available basis.
  • Serve the community as a demonstration site for professional development.
