Welcome to Ferdinand Herff Elementary School.  It is our school’s good fortune to have an unusual mascot, the Giraffe, a magnificent and unusual animal that is quiet yet sticks out its neck reaching for knowledge and high achievement.  Herff has been quietly helping students reach for knowledge and high achievement as a part of the San Antonio Independent School District for over 100 years.  Today, we are still going strong and have great plans and programs for the future.  The programs currently offered here at Herff include: Pre-kindergarten, Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD), Special Resources, Gifted and Talented, Main Stream and the Dual Language.  We are a TEA Recognized campus and currently reaching for Exemplary.

We offer a variety of after school activities for our students including Performance Club, Garden Club, Art Club, Choir, Chess Club, PALS and Girl Scouts.

Several Members of our staff have received National Board Certification and many of our talented teachers are presenters for our District.  The teacher leadership and the staff experience in the field of education are very strong on our campus and this is indicated by the fact that more than one-third of the staff has at least one master’s degree.

Our parents are a major part of our success at Herff not only because of our active PTA but also because of our participation in the United Way Grant.  Through this grant we are partnered with the PRESA Community Center which has resulted in a great increase in parent participation at our school.

Bienvenidos a la escuela primaria Ferdinand Herff. Nuestra escuela tiene la suerte de tener una mascota inusual, la jirafa, un animal magnífico que es tranquilo pero sobresale para alcanzar el conocimiento y el alto rendimiento.

Herff ha servido a los estudiantes para alcanzar el aprendizaje y conocimiento através del Distrito Independiente Escolar de  San Antonio por más de 100 años. Hoy en día, continuamos con programas dinámicos y planes grandiosos para el futuro. Los programas que se ofrecen aquí en Herff son: Pre-kinder, Programa Preescolar para Niños con Discapacidades (PPCD), de recursos especiales, dotados y talentosos, doctrina general e imersión en español. Además somos una escuela Reconocido por la Agencia de Educación de Texas (TEA) y seguimos trabajando para llegar a ser reconocidos como escuela  Ejemplar.

Ofrecemos una variedad de actividades después de clases para nuestros estudiantes, incluyendo el Club de artes del espectáculo, Club de jardinería, Club de Arte, Coro, Club de ajedrez, Club de sellar, Club de tecnología,  PALS y Girl Scouts.

Varios miembros de nuestro personal han recibido certificación nacional y muchos de nuestros profesores han usado sus talentos como presentadores de nuestro distrito escolar. El liderazgo de nuestros maestros y su experiencia personal en el campo de la educación son evidentes en nuestra escuela y esto es evidente por el hecho de que más de un tercio de la plantilla tiene por lo menos una maestría.

Sin duda nuestros padres de familia son una parte integral del éxito de la escuela primaria Herff, no solamente por pertenecer a la Asociación de Padres y Maestros (PTA), sino también por tener una sociedad con la organización de United Way. A través de esta subvención que se asoció con el Centro comunitario de Presa, se ha notado un gran aumento en la participación de padres en nuestra escuela Herff.

En conclusión, les reiteramos que siempre serán bienvenidos a la escuela Herff para disfrutar del aprendizaje que ocurre diariamente en los salones.  Juntos llegaremos al éxito deseado.
