Ferdinand Herff Elementary School
Welcome to Ferdinand Herff Elementary School. It is our school’s good fortune to have an unusual mascot, the Giraffe, a magnificent and unusual animal that is quiet yet sticks out its neck reaching for knowledge and high achievement. Herff has been quietly helping students reach for knowledge and high achievement as a part of the San Antonio Independent School District for over 100 years. Today, we are still going strong and have great plans and programs for the future. The programs currently offered here at Herff include: Pre-kindergarten, Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD), Special Resources, Gifted and Talented, Main Stream and the Dual Language. We are a recognized campus in reading and are working hard to achieve state recognition for the entire campus.
We offer a variety of after school activities for our students including Dance Club, Garden Club, Art Club, Choir, Library Club, PALS and Scouts.
Several Members of our staff have received National Board Certification and many of our talented teachers are presenters for our District. The teacher leadership and the staff experience in the field of education are very strong on our campus and this is indicated by the fact that more than one-third of the staff has at least one master’s degree.
Our parents are a major part of our success at Herff not only because of our active PTA but also because of our participation in the United Way Grant. Through this grant we are partnered with the PRESA Community Center which has resulted in a great increase in parent participation at our school.
Please know that you are always welcome to come and enjoy all of the learning that goes on at Herff. We will continue to always reach for knowledge and high achievement. Come be a part of your child’s success.
