When 5th Grader, Eboni Castillo, saw a need she sprang into action! Every morning she walks to school, she crosses over the Kirk Street Bridge. One morning she came to school and asked her teacher if she could organize a clean-up project because the bridge was so polluted with trash. Eboni noticed candy wrappers, broken bottles and other trash all over the bridge. She knows that pollution is bad for our environment and that something needed to be done. With her teacher’s help, Eboni did a web search of the City of San Antonio and found a useful website: www.sanantonio.gov There, Eboni’s teacher was able to fill out a form to report the pollution. Later that day, an officer from Code Enforcement came to the school to investigate the matter. He promised to let the proper authorities know and he assured us that the bridge would soon be cleaned up! Thanks to Eboni, students at Kelly Elementary will soon have a safer, cleaner commute to school.
