Navarro Academy, a non-traditional high school, is located in a historic building at 623 South Pecos. Established in 2000 as a school of choice, Navarro accepts students, grades 9-12, from the San Antonio Independent School District and has three sites with several distinct programs.

Navarro Academy students are afforded many opportunities with partnerships with our neighbor, University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Palo Alto College, Our Lady of the Lake University, and other business and community resources. With credit recovery, small classes and rigorous curriculum with the option of acceleration, the well-trained and experienced Navarro staff assists students to be successful and to explore post-secondary options.

Interventions:

Counseling - Group and individual counseling

Graduate practicum student in counseling

Tutoring- before and after school hours

Mentoring- UTSA counseling graduate students work with high school students

Pre-K volunteer service program - High school students do volunteer service with the Pre-K students, giving the high students job experience and career opportunities.

Teen Parenting Programs:

§        Precious Minds, New Connections- 12 week parent enrichment classes which meet weekly

§        Common Sense Parenting classes (for teen parents and adult parents of teens)
