STAAR Testing will be taking place next week Monday April 20-Wednesday April 22 for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Students who are present each day of testing April 20-April 22 (does not include makeup days) will be participating in STAAR attendance incentive activities. 3rd-5th  grade will be offering attendance incentives for students who are present each day of testing (April 20-April 22)- movie & snack, field trip (5th grade only), and pizza with the principal. Please ensure your child arrives to school no later than 8:00am and is present each day of testing Monday April 20-Wednesday April 22!

STAAR Testing Tips

Please help your child get a good night’s sleep the evening before the test. Make sure they have a calm relaxed morning. Ensure your child eats a protein rich breakfast on test day. Arrive early BEFORE 8:15 on test days to ensure you get a school breakfast. School breakfast ends promplty at 8:15!

All testing will start by 8:20 AM!

Students can bring a sack lunch or receive their free lunch from the school. Students who are still testing will be required to have a silent lunch separate from students that are finished testing.

NO visitors or parents allowed on campus or in the cafeteria on campus on test days. This is TEA and District policy. Students who are testing will NOT be called out of testing for visits or early dismissals during testing until testing in complete.

Please refrain from scheduling doctor appointments, being absent, or arriving late on STAAR testing days.

Cell phones/electronics are NOT allowed on test days. If your child brings a cell phone, they will be required to turn it in to the test administrator and will receive it once all testing is over. Students should NOT bring backpacks on testing days.

Help us celebrate San Antonio as a college town! Join us at Café Commerce as we officially begin our week-long celebration of everything college with a press conference at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is welcome! After the press conference, join us at the San Antonio Public Library as we showcase student research from colleges and universities from across San Antonio.

It’s never too early to start thinking about college. Parents, explore college readiness resources and community organizations with your elementary student at The Boys & Girls Club of San Antonio’s Calderon Branch. Light refreshments provided.

There are multiple pathways to exciting jobs in STEM, Public Services, Arts & Humanities, and Business & Industry. Come engage in hands-on interactions with leaders in these fields and discover the jobs associated with your passions.

Young Men’s Leadership Academy

The Young Men’s Leadership Academy will open its doors in August 2015 to boys in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades, becoming the city’s first public all-boys school. The 7th grade will be added in the 2016-2017 school year, and the 8th grade will be added the following year. Instruction will be tailored to the male learner in an environment that promotes a strong culture of brotherhood and camaraderie.
