News & ActivitiesOn February 25, 2010, Wheatley Alumni Cornelia Wilson, Helen Dawson, and Joe Ann Brown graciously volunteered their time judging student essays for the Ladder for Booker T. Washington Essay Contest, honoring Black History 2010 at Wheatley Middle School.
Pat Harris, Wheatley Alumni President, presents Lauren Glasco with the Phillis Wheatley Alumni 2009 Financial Assistance Award. Her parents (pictured) are Glenn and Rhonda Glasco. Lauren is the granddaughter of Helen Melton Dawson (Phillis Wheatley Class of 1964) and Clonie Henderson Glasco (Phillis Wheatley Class of 1945). Lauren will be attending University of Texas at Tyler, with a major in Human Resources, receiving a BS in Business before entering law school.
