Welcome to Woodlawn Hills ES

Dear Parents and Visitors:

Welcome to Woodlawn Hills Elementary School.  We are the home of the Mighty Proud Trojans! This school year 2011-2012 our Academic Goal is to remain rated Exemplary by TEA. At Woodlawn Hills Elementary, every staff member is committed to the educational success of every child.  Every day we will work together as a team for the safety and well-being of all children.

The staff and I are committed to the following core values:

  • Children Come First
  • Believe in Yourself
  • Respect
  • Team Work
  • High Expectations
  • Change is Constant/Be Flexible

As we begin a new school year, let me remind you that parental involvement is a key component to the success of student learning. I strongly urge parents to please assist us with your child's learning.  Specifically in the areas that require your special attention at home. For example, you can ensure that your child completes his/her homework on a daily basis, get to bed on time, attend school daily, etc. I can't stress enough the importance of good communication between home and school.  Good communication between home and school will lead to your child's strong academic progress.

A new school-wide initative that we started last year is Positive Behavior Support (PBS).  Throughout this school year, your child's teacher will be sharing valuable information about PBS.  This school-wide project is designed to help establish rules, routines and procedures in common areas of our campus to help ensure safety, security and with an emphasis on optimizing student behavior and building character.

With your help and support, I look forward to another wonderful year where student achievement is accomplished and obtained. Remember you play a vital role in your child's learning.  If you would like to learn of ways you can get involved at our school, please contact me.
