Application Process

  • Download the Application Form here
  • Review the student profile, criteria documentation and parent expectations for admissions.  Make sure that YWLA is a good fit for your daughter. (November 2nd- December 18th)
  • Attend an information session at YWLA to learn more about the application process, admissions review and student expectations. (November 3rd- November 19, 2009)
  • Submit your daughter’s application with all of the required documentation by December 18, 2009.
  • Notices for non-acceptance will be sent to students who do not meet the criteria or did not score enough points during the rubric review of their application.  (January 4-January 16)
Notices for students who have moved forward and are eligible to come in for testing will go out to approximately 150 girls. (January 4-January 16)
  • Testing for students will occur in January.  Tests will be scored and students will be notified with a letter.  Letters will go to girls that will not move forward and to those who will advance to the interview stage.  Only 100 girls will move forward for an interview. (January 14-January 30)
  • Interview candidates will come to the YWLA campus with their parents or guardians for their interview.  Students should dress appropriately for an interview or in school uniform.  (February 1-February 13)
  • 75 girls will be selected for admissions, 25 will go on the waiting list.  Notices will go out to all students on February 19, 2009.
  • Students who are applying for 7th, 8th or 9th grade will be reviewed on the same timelines but admissions for these grade levels is dependent upon spaces that may be available.
  • Keep in mind that due to limited spaces many outstanding young women will not make it in to the final class; however, they should be commended for participating in the process.
  • Once a student is sent a letter of non-acceptance, this decision is final.
