Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I get an application?
Applications will be available after the winter break at all SAISD elementary and middle schools-please see your school counselor. You can also click here to download a printable application.

2. Where will the school be located?
The location of the Young Women’s Leadership Academy will be identified in early spring.

3. If you are planning on consolidating schools and you are short of money, then why  have a girl’s school?
Repurposing of schools is being considered as part of an overall facilities strategic plan to resolve the inefficient use of some school buildings and associated costs.  The proposed girls; school will help in improving the current facility situation by attracting and retaining students.  At this point, the school location has not been determined.  However, we do know that the expected capacity of 525 will occur when the school is fully operational in the 2013-2014 school year when the school houses 6th through 12th grade.  Therefore, careful selection of a site will ensure that whatever existing facility is selected is used to its optimal capacity.  In addition, staffing ratios and other efficiency criteria will be fully utilized to provide for maximum benefit and usage.
