Thank you for your interest in the Young Women’s Leadership Academy.  We are looking forward to having the opportunity to work for outstanding young girls who have a strong desire to attend college.  Our goal is to ensure that every girl is well prepared to seek and obtain success in higher education. 

Admission Requirements

The female student profile indicates the special qualities that candidates for the Young Women’s Leadership Academy should possess. 

• Committed to seek higher education at a four year university or college
• Enthusiastic about engaging in service learning to improve social issues
• Participates in educational opportunities offered beyond the regular scholastic year
• Rises to the academic challenges in the fields of math, science, and technology
• Desire to develop and strengthen leadership qualities
• Determined to avoid the negative issues that can affect female students
• Willing to give back to their community

• Must be a “C” average or better in the year preceding enrollment and must exhibit  a desire to go to college
• Economically-disadvantaged students will be given priority for admission.  Economically disadvantaged is defined as those students eligible for free or reduced lunch. 
• Must have met State requirement for advancement to the next grade level
• Cannot have had chronic attendance or school discipline problems upon admission
• Cannot have had prior out of school suspensions or DAEP placements
• Must attend the interview with a parent, guardian or other caregiver
• Must have the desire and commitment to attend a four year college / university
