Applying to The Young Women’s Leadership Academy

Thank you for your interest in our campus. We are excited to share our campus with you and look forward to reviewing your application.

We will begin accepting applications for the following grade levels in October 2016:

  • 6th grade for Fall 2017-current 5th grade students applying for Fall 2017.
  • Current 6th -9th grade students for Spring 2017- These students would begin with us in late January 2017.

Our application cycle for the 2017-2018 school year runs from October – December 2016. There are three parts to our application process:

  1. Application Submission
  2. Entrance testing
  3. Interview

The deadline for applications to be submitted will be in December 2016. Applications that are incomplete or that are not submitted by this firm deadline will not be processed. It is your responsibility to ensure that your application is complete at the time of submission.


The first step in applying to our campus is attending one of our mandatory parent information sessions. Reservations are not required and you may attend any session that best suits your needs. All sessions begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. and families should plan to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the session. Latecomers will not be allowed to enter the session once it has begun.

The next step in the admissions process is completing your application for admission.

Notice that in addition to completing the application for admission you must attach copies of the following documentation:

  • Two Teacher letters of recommendation- to be submitted in a sealed envelope. 
  • Most recent STAAR (Texas applicants) or other standardized test score results (private/out of state)
  • Most recent report card
  • Attendance record from the last and current school year
  • Three stamped envelopes with a current address written clearly on them with the applicant’s name written on the bottom left side


Once you are ready to submit your complete application you may do so in one of the following ways:

  • Bring it to the information session you attend
  • Stop by campus between 8:30 a.m. & 3:30 p.m. daily or by 5:00 pm in December 2016. No application will be accepted after 5:00 p.m.
  • Mail it to us at: YWLA Admissions, 2123 W. Huisache Ave., San Antonio, TX 78201. Applications postmarked after 11:59 p.m., December 2016 will not be accepted.
