Head Start Applications

Applications for the Head Start are taken year around, on-line or by appointment at any of the Head
Start sites throughout SAISD. Please call our office at 210-554-2410 for more information.

Early Childhood Education Registration Information

If you have a child who will be 3 or 4 years old as of Sept. 1, we encourage you to apply for SAISD's
early childhood education program, which includes the pre-kindergarten and Head Start programs.
Registration continues throughout the year.

Families must meet established income guidelines or meet other eligibility criteria to qualify for
admission to either of the two programs. If your child does not quality for one program, he or she
may qualify for the other.

More about SAISD’s Early Childhood Education program

The District’s acclaimed Early Childhood Education Program is comprised of the federally funded
Head Start program and the state District funded Pre-K program, both programs are full day and
serve 3 and 4 year olds.

Head Start is offered at various elementary schools, including the five Early Childhood Education
centers – Carroll, Carvajal, Knox, Nelson and Tynan.  Pre-K is offered at various
elementary schools, academies and the Gonzales Early Childhood Education Center.
