North America Scholastic Esports Federation
In SAISD, the aim for any eSports program is to:
Increase student engagement, attitude, confidence, academic performance, problem-solving and time management skills, communication and collaboration skills
Increase students' interest in STEM, Career and Technical subjects and careers
Limit competition participation to approved eSports games, such as League of Legends (Rated: Teen), Rocket League (Rated: Everyone), Super Smash Brothers Ultimate (Rated: Everyone 10+) and Minecraft.edu (Rated: Everyone 10+)
Require an eSports Parent Permission Form to be completed prior to participation
Offer eSports opportunities in either an after school club with access to district technology equipment and network or as a CTE Middle School or High School elective curricular course with access to a CTE lab that is offered during the instructional day
Require participants to adhere to the District’s Acceptable Use of Communication Technologies and Student Club and Organization policies
Foster skills found in traditional school sports, such as offensive and defensive strategy, dexterity, critical thinking, teamwork and physical fitness; and
Deploy student-centered projects that showcase the use of digital tools and resources by developing proficiency in technology literacy (Technology Application TEKS and ISTE standards) and 21st Century Competencies with the focus on collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity.
