CAST Tech High School students honor industry partners in celebration of second campus building opening
Event will include ribbon-cutting, and student-led tours of new building
What: CAST Tech High School students honor the contributions made by local industry and nonprofit partners by sharing what the space has meant for learning. Students will give partners a tour of the two-story building, which opened this year to accommodate juniors in the program. It is connected by a skywalk to the main school building.

The main entrance of CAST Tech, on the Fox Tech campus, faces the courtyard alongside North Flores Street. Event parking will be in the bus pick-up area: Enter from N. Flores Street and park on the right side of the three-lane pick-up and drop-off area.
Partners include industry and community representatives who provided input and made financial investments toward the creation of the school’s learning environment.
CAST Tech students will be recognizing these partners during an appreciation ceremony that will include remarks, photo opportunities and a student-led tour of the second building that opened in August to house juniors in the program. Students will also unveil a ‘donor wall’ that includes the logos of 18 local businesses and organizations who made financial contributions of over $25,000. Philanthropic funds raised total over $11 million.
CAST Tech is an in-district charter school within the San Antonio Independent School District offering career pathways in business, technology and user experience (UX). The school campus received a B rating from the Texas Education Agency last year, with a Distinction Designation in Postsecondary Readiness. All CAST Tech students can code in at least one programming language by sophomore year, and CAST Tech juniors are currently engaging in internships with industry partners.
CAST Tech is currently accepting applications for the 2020-2021 school year for incoming ninth and tenth grade students. The school is hosting six information sessions from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Nov. 19, Dec. 5, Dec. 6, Jan. 9, Jan. 28 and Jan. 30. One evening session will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 9. The sessions include campus tours and a student panel for Q&A.
The Centers for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) is a network of tuition-free, public schools preparing students for college and career through internships and hands-on learning. Open to all Bexar County students, the network includes CAST Tech, CAST STEM, CAST Med, the Advanced Learning Academy, and CAST Lead, which will open August 2020.
Founded by Charles Butt and H-E-B in partnership with area industries, CAST schools graduate students with the skills, certifications and credits needed to jumpstart their career or higher education goals.
All schools partner with industry and higher education partners in the design of its pathways and course offerings. Higher education partners include Palo Alto College, San Antonio College, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the University of Incarnate Word, Texas A&M University-San Antonio, Trinity University and UT Health.
