Feb. 12, 2021 – Valentine’s Day is this weekend, and culinary students at Lanier High School are helping their fellow students and teachers be prepared for the sweet holiday. On Friday morning, culinary students created assortments of chocolate-dipped strawberries for sale to their campus community. It’s an annual event, and proceeds benefit the school’s culinary program.
Chef Jenny Placette and Chef Eric Dromgoole lead the culinary arts program at Lanier High School. These two Culinary Institute of America (CIA) trained chefs are two of the 10 chefs across SAISD high schools teaching culinary students the ins and outs of the kitchen.
Culinary is one of 13 Career and Technical Education programs of student in SAISD, and the District is celebrating CTE Month in February. Other CTE programs recognized statewide by the Texas Education Agency include architecture and construction, audio visual technology, cosmetology, law enforcement, and more.
