The best and brightest educational projects proposed by individuals and teams of SAISD educators will be awarded with support funding totaling more than $200,000, thanks to the SAISD Foundation’s Innovative Grants Program. A total of 56 lead grant winners at various SAISD schools will be represented in this year’s giving.

Grant winners represent all grade levels and thousands of students will benefit through projects and opportunities designed to enrich their learning. Grant giving begins this week and will continue through the end of August.

Following the announcement, media are invited to join SAISD Foundation Directors, SAISD School Board members, and Friends of the SAISD Foundation on surprise visits to the winning SAISD lead educators. One of these exciting grants will be awarded at Gates at the close of the news conference. Media are also invited to the awarding of additional innovative grants this week at additional schools. Details on award presentations will be provided at the news conference.

The process began earlier in the spring when educators applied for grants to fund innovative projects that they would like to implement to pique student interest, increase student engagement and improve student academic performance. Grants are rated by a team of community representatives, former teachers and SAISD Foundation Directors.

The SAISD Foundation motivates the community to invest in teacher and student success and in doing so, has raised funds to support innovation in the classroom awarding more than 1,000 teacher grants benefiting SAISD students.
