Soil / UST Remediation

  • When discovered, old heating oil tanks, contaminated soils, etc. are addressed in accordance
with rules established by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
  •
  • From 2006 to 2009 over 13,000 cubic yards of PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons)
contaminated soil was removed from the Brackenridge High School track (area).  PAH
containing soils remain under the track and practice.  Salient points include:
  •
  • A 12” protective layer of soil demarcated (from the PAH soils) with a geotech fabric was installed.
  •
  • An all-weather track was installed in 2011 (and now provides an additional physical barrier).
  •
  • The physical barrier is inspected every 3-years by a licensed geologist.

See the Brackenridge HS Environmental Notice – PAH Soils link below for additional
information.
