A huge roar of congratulations to two dedicated members of the Poe STEM Dual Language Middle School family, James Ramos (SEMS Clerk) and Leo Aguilar (Associate Principal), who conquered the San Antonio 1/2 Marathon this past Sunday, December 7, 2025!

Mr. James Ramos (SEMS Clerk): Completed his 5th half marathon! Entering his 18th year at Poe, Mr. Ramos shared that he finds running to be "liberating—body, mind, and spirit."
Mr. Leo Aguilar (Associate Principal): Completed his 1st half marathon—a major bucket list item! In his 2nd year at Poe, Mr. Aguilar praised the perfect San Antonio December weather and the gorgeous course that took them through historical landmarks. He was also inspired by the community's support for the 18,000+ runners. Mr. Aguilar's journey from thinking marathon runners were "crazy" to running 13.1 miles in 1 hour and 56 minutes is an incredible testament to growth and dedication!
Congratulations, Mr. James Ramos and Mr. Leo Aguilar! Your hard work, discipline, and commitment are an inspiration to all of us at Poe STEM Dual Language Middle School. We are so proud of your commitment! You both showed incredible discipline and endurance to reach the finish line. Keep that pace and let that Poe Tiger spirit lead the pack! 🐅
