Junior Class Valedictorian Dazzel Moore has been named a 2026 Shirane Scholar, a prestigious honor awarded to only six students nationwide from a highly competitive pool of applicants.
This recognition reflects Dazzel’s exceptional academic achievement, leadership, and dedication — qualities we see demonstrated every day throughout the YMLA hallways.
As a Shirane Scholar, Dazzel will participate in an immersive summer experience in Japan, where he will:
Live with a host family to experience daily life and culture firsthand
Participate in intensive Japanese language study
Visit world-renowned universities and research facilities
Engage in cross-cultural leadership and diplomacy workshops with students from around the world
