The Young Women's Leadership Academy of San Antonio (YWLASA) recently celebrated the second year of its Girls' Summer Entrepreneurship Program (GSEP). Inspired by a similar initiative at the high school alma mater of one of YWLA Advisory Board members, GSEP was created to introduce rising juniors and seniors to the world of entrepreneurship—empowering them to envision themselves as future business leaders and innovators.
Throughout the week-long program, students engaged in hands-on activities designed to spark entrepreneurial thinking. Each day featured immersive experiences with key community partners: Geekdom, Trinity University, and the UTSA City Trek, all set against the vibrant backdrop of downtown San Antonio.
At the start of the program, students brought their own business ideas and practiced delivering elevator pitches to their peers. Working in “co-founding teams,” they developed and refined their concepts into full presentations. The week culminated in a dynamic, Shark Tank-style pitch competition at the Geekdom Event Center, where teams presented their business ideas on stage.
We’re excited to see how the Girls' Summer Entrepreneurship Program continues to grow and inspire in the years ahead!
