🚍 Important Bus Transportation Update for 2025-2026 🚍
This year, all students must be registered for transportation and must live within Hawthorne’s attendance zone to qualify for bus service.
✅ Who qualifies for transportation? • Students who live inside our attendance zone • Students who qualify for McKinney-Vento services or Special Education transportation
❌ Who must provide their own transportation? • Students who live outside the attendance zone (unless they qualify for the exceptions above) How to register: 1. Log into Avela and indicate that your child requires transportation. 2. If you already submitted your application without transportation, simply go back into Avela and update it. 3. If you cannot access Avela, please contact our campus and speak with Ms. Joseph for assistance.
📅 Act quickly! Registration updates can take up to 48 hours to process.
📩 Families will receive a notification once their student is approved to ride the bus. Bus routes will be shared separately — please make sure your child is registered before the first day of school so there are no delays.

🚗 Drop-Off & Dismissal Map Info 🗺️
As we prepare to launch into an exciting new school year, please review our updated procedures to help keep all students safe and our routines running smoothly:
🔹 Morning Drop-Off:
All students must be dropped off in the back loop on Ashby St. beginning at 7:15 AM.
🚫 Do NOT drop off students on Josephine St. Only bus riders may enter through those doors.
🍽️ Breakfast is served from 7:15–7:45 AM in the cafeteria for middle school 6-8 and in the classroom for PK-5th grade.
⏰ The tardy bell rings at 7:45 AM.
🔹 Dismissal:
• Pre-K: Begins at 2:30 PM in the back loop. The gate opens only for Pre-K families at this time.
• K–8: Begins at 3:00 PM. The gate will open at this time to allow parents of K-8 students to enter for pickup.
🚦 Important Note: The after school program will begin August 18, so expect heavier traffic during the first few days of school. We appreciate your patience and grace as we adjust.
👋 Parents will not be allowed inside the building during drop-off. Our staff is ready to welcome all students, and “Kiss & Say Goodbye” photo areas will be available outside. We encourage you to come meet the teacher on Tuesday, August 12!
