SAISD will start school on August 17, and for the first three weeks, all instruction will be 100% remote. After Labor Day, parents can continue with the teacher-led, online learning or transition their children to on-campus learning – both will provide your child a high-quality option. Students learning remotely will be provided devices if they don’t have one at home. We prioritize safety, strong academics and social-emotional learning for our students.

Families are encouraged to declare their instructional preference for each child by August 17. CLICK HERE to declare your child’s academic option.

A Safe School Start webpage has been launched to establish a one-stop source to house communication updates so families can easily locate important information.

SAISD is in the process of finalizing the processes and protocols to ensure a safe start to the new school year. We invite you to review this working draft and submit questions and comments for us to consider.

Canvas Learning Management System

San Antonio ISD is excited to introduce a new learning management system, Canvas, for the 2020-21 school year. With this system, communication and collaboration between teachers and families will be made simple, and parents will be able to access assignments, attendance, announcements and more to support their children with at-home learning.

Beginning August 24, parents can request their child’s Canvas code from their teacher to be able to access all of the learning materials for the first few weeks of school.

Click here for instructions on how to get your ClassLink username and password to join Canvas.

Dress Code

All students, whether receiving instruction in-person or remotely, must adhere to the District’s dress code as outlined in FNCA (Local).

Extended Day Programs

SAISD will begin offering after school programs on October 13.

School Uniforms

School uniform requirements will be in effect for the 2020-2021 school year. That said, families choosing in-person instruction for their children must follow the uniform specifications outlined in FNCA (Local).

Families choosing remote instruction for their children do not have to follow school uniform requirements. However, dress code requirements will be in effect for all students.

School Uniform Guidelines

Students receiving in-person instruction must be attired in a uniform of khaki or black pants, shorts, skorts or skirt, and a white top or alternate school-approved colored shirt. Click to view the guidelines.

School Uniform Assistance

The District has several programs available to assist families with the purchase of uniforms.

  • Currently, SAISD Uniform Services has a uniform closet with the inventory to support approximately 5,000 students in need of a basic school uniform.
  • Additional funding is available to help families purchase uniforms. Parents can submit an application to SAISD Uniform Services to receive uniform vouchers for use with any of the District’s four approved vendors.
  • The District also has support services, including uniform assistance, available to families experiencing homelessness.

For more information about any of these services, please email or call (210) 554-2635.
