Partnerships

Community partners play a significant role in supporting students throughout their educational journey.

The Office of Family and Community Engagement works with private or community based organizations to develop partnerships to support the needs of students, parents, and staff.

Organizations interested in providing services to District students, parents, and staff must submit a request using the SAISD Partnership Preliminary Interest Form and include all supporting documentation.

To best match partner contributions and talents to the needs of individual schools, we encourage all prospective partners to view our School Needs Profiles.

Who are our partners?

Partners are organizations that provide support and services outside the scope of what the school or District is able to offer our students, parents, and staff. Some of our partners include:

  • San Antonio Food Bank
  • Family Service
  • San Antonio Youth Literacy
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Good Samaritan Community Services
  • And more!

Partnership Process at a Glance

The first step in our partnership process is to ensure this is the correct pathway for your organization. There are many ways to get involved with our District and we want to ensure this is the right fit for you.
All organizations interested in providing services to District students, parents, and staff must submit a request using this SAISD Partnership Preliminary Interest Form and include all supporting documentation.

Organizations who have submitted a request through the SAISD Partnership Preliminary Interest Form will be routed to the  corresponding department heads for review. The department may reach out for more information.

The Business Services and Contract Management department will develop the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in collaboration with the department and the partner outlining the responsibilities of each party. All Memorandum of Understandings (MOU) will be reviewed by the appropriate department, based on the partnership subject matter, and approved by the Board of Trustees, as required by Board policy. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be valid for the remainder of the academic school year and will need to be renewed every school year unless otherwise specified. Renewals will follow the outlined process above for each new school year.

    1. All organizations interested in providing services to District students, parents, and staff must submit a request using this SAISD Partnership Preliminary Interest Form and include all supporting documentation.
    2. Due to the volume of requests received by the District, not all proposals can be approved. The approval or denial of any request is within the absolute discretion of the District.
    3. Organizations whose initial written request through the SAISD Partnership Preliminary Interest Form is selected after screening and approval, will be required to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the District.
    4. The Business Services and Contract Management department will develop the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the partner.
    5. Any Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be reviewed and approved by appropriate department, based on the partnership subject matter, and approved by the Board of Trustees, as required by Board policy and applicable law.
    6. Organizations may be contacted by Division/Department heads for additional information to complete the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The principal may not enter into any written agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) without the approval of the corresponding Division/Department Head and official written notification from the District.
    7. The Office of Family and Community Engagement will contact the requestor to notify them of the status of their request.
    8. The approval, if granted, will designate the schools at which the request is valid and the period of time for which the approval is granted.
    9. The approval, or denial, status will be communicated to principals of all participating schools.
    10. Should an organization not comply with the requirements of the District as stated, or attempt to alter the nature of the program or services without receiving written approval, the approval shall be automatically void.  The District has the authority to revoke the partnership for any reason. Approval of a request is not an endorsement of the individual/organization by the District, and any representations to the effect that the District has "endorsed," "sponsored," or "joined with," the individual/organization are strictly prohibited.
    11. Incomplete submissions will not be considered. It is the responsibility of the requester to make sure all required items are included with the partnership request.
    12. Important note: If approved by all parties, all outside organization personnel must complete a volunteer background check through the District’s volunteer management system.
