Another week in the books for the YWLA!!!! 1. Our students came through with the 98% attendance goals and were rewarded! 2. Sisters in Faith collaborated with middle school students and a parent to bring Meet me at the Pole event to life 3. Navy to Red Ceremony celebrated our 9th graders entering high school. 4. Our photography students we super excited to see their new cameras thanks to Donors Choose. 5. We recognized our teachers who earned designations! 6. We recognized staff and students for exemplifying characteristics aligned to our mission and vision. September = Initiative. Thank you to PTSA for the gift bags. 7. AP Scholars we recognized for their hard work by adding pins to their ties! 8. The 7th grade basketball team is out there doing great things.

Special thanks to River City Produce for the special treat! They brought in 8 pallets of produce for all the students and staff to enjoy! The girls were already enjoying their fruits and veggies before leaving campus! 🍉 🍎 🍌 🥕 🥦

The last day to purchase a Breast Cancer spirit shirt is and shirts will be delivered to students on 10/02/25. Payment will be collected during middle school and high school lunches. 3. HoCo mums sales are going on now. Homecoming is right around the corner! The presale will end 9/25. Mums will be delivered by 9/26 to the school. There is a special Senior option! The Young Women's Leadership Academy is excited to host the 4th Annual All-Girls Math Competition on October 18, 2025. Check-in will take place from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, with the competition kicking off promptly at 9:30 AM.
Girls currently in 4th through 8th grade are invited to join us for a fun and challenging day of math!

Congratulations to our YWLA Cardinals for earning 7 out of 7 distinctions from the Texas Education Agency. 🥳💐🎉 Schools were recognized yesterday evening at the SAISD School Board meeting for their distinctions. Along with Mrs. Alfaro, are the principals from Travis ECHS and CAST Tech—who also received 7 out of 7 distinctions. Congratulations to all the SAISD schools who earned distinctions, when our schools excel, all kids excel! Be PROUD of your accomplishments Cardinals! ICYMI: We are also ranked 98th NATIONALLY!!! Out of 24k schools across all 50 states and D.C. we broke the Top 💯 threshold!

Quick YWLA recap from last week! Thank you to all the parents who attended Open House! Congratulations to our HS XC team who came in FIRST place at their meet. Super proud of both our student athletes and coaches. Those early mornings are paying off. Thank you to our HS basketball players for keeping score for our MS games. Thank you to Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica-Michelle Bachelet Chapter as they kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with a magnificent performance. Thank you, Sra. Luz Adriana Arnaldo Perez for your efforts in bringing historical and cultural impacts to all our students! Gratitude also goes to our YWLA tech theatre students for their collaboration the this celebration.

It was time for an Attendance Incentive drawing! We selected one winner for the grade level with the highest attendance percentage for the week and drew three additional names for any grade level who met our 98% goal! Shout out to our 11th graders who came in claiming the top spot! I want to get rid of some more prizes...keep showing up!
